Chapter 24 - Online forum
Sun Jun, an Awakened who had gained his abilities two and a half years ago, was only at the first stage of awakening. Though his strength wasn’t high, his slick and smooth personality allowed him to make quite a few friends.
But because of his low level, he was inevitably looked down upon by others.
While he often put on a flattering smile around other Awakened, behind their backs, he loved to show off and act superior—especially online.
He had a particular style of showing off: pointing fingers and Sharing "wisdom" across various internet forums related to Awakened individuals.
He especially loved replying to posts from ordinary people who dreamed of becoming Awakened. That sense of superiority thrilled him.
Even if he was just a rookie in front of real Awakened, online he could strike hard with words:
“If Heaven hadn’t birthed me, the Keyboard Warrior, the path of flaming would be lost to eternal darkness. Bring me the keyboard!”
Just like always, today Sun Jun was browsing forums about Awakened individuals, looking to find a few interesting posts to “educate the masses” and let people know just how brutal the world of the Awakened really was.
As he scrolled, he commented casually:
[Can Awakened extend their lifespan?]
"Of course! High-level Awakened can live up to 200 years, and with some rare treasures, even 300 isn’t out of reach.”
Though Sun Jun’s power was low, he was a real Awakened and did have access to some genuine information.
He'd mix real facts with made-up details—70% truth, 30% embellishment presenting himself like a master sage, which naturally drew a lot of attention.
People commented, upvoted, and even sent private messages calling him “big boss”.
All the praise made Sun Jun beam with pride. Acting cool, he moved on from that post, looking for more opportunities to show off.
Just then, a new thread popped up:
[Do Awakened people have their own forums? Or some kind of private network? Their world seems so mysterious!]
Awakened forum?
Sun Jun’s face stiffened. Those did exist—but you had to be at Awakened Stage Two to apply for access.
There, you could ask for help, exchange resources, and network. It was incredibly useful.
But Sun Jun had been stuck at Stage One for over two years, completely unable to register.
Worse still, his friends who had access would often give him pitiful looks whenever they mentioned it. It was a constant thorn in his side.
This question killed his good mood. Irritated, he clicked the user profile of the poster.
“Lord of Ten Thousand Monsters? What a ridiculously chuni name. Had to be a kid. Monster Lord? Better watch out or a monster might really eat you someday.
He muttered complaints, then quickly typed out a reply to vent his frustration:
“Of course! Awakened people don’t mingle with ordinary folks. They’re out there slaying monsters, way out of your league.”
Sun Jun firmly believed he would reach Stage Two soon. Once he had an account, he’d have more things to boast about. This was just preemptive posturing.
See? Awakened people are badass and busy!
The one who made the post was none other than Lu Yu. He’d been casting a wide net on forums, fishing for useful info.
But most users were just idle browsers, without the knowledge to answer his question. He’d been waiting an hour and was just about to spend money to offer a bounty when someone replied—
Username: "Peerless Prodigy"
“Peerless Prodigy? That’s the worst chuni name I’ve seen today…”
Lu Yu raised an eyebrow. As someone who preferred facts over fantasy, he mocked the name a bit.
After all, with the Monster Editor System, becoming the Lord of Ten Thousand Monsters was just a matter of time for him.
But “Peerless Prodigy” did seem to know what he was talking about. Curious, Lu Yu browsed the guy’s post history—and the more he read, the more delighted he became.
Was this guy a real Awakened? A “peerless prodigy” among Awakened?
But then Lu Yu recalled the group of Awakened he saw the other night. They were weak as hell and supposedly the last line of the city’s defense.
So what is it? A prodigy of nobodies? Should I call them "prodigy-level trash" or "trash-level prodigies"?
Still, their discussion topics sounded impressive.
But why were they so cowardly last night, then?
Playing the part of a clueless newbie, Lu Yu followed up:
“So to get into the forum, you need strong credentials and power?”
“Of course!”
Sun Jun replied smugly, his lips curling into a confident smile:
“Only Awakened Stage Two and above can submit ID verification to apply for an account. Once approved, you can post, network, and even trade resources.”
Submit ID?
Lu Yu frowned slightly.
Having fused one-tenth of two Morning Star monsters’ power, his strength was at least Stage Nine—he definitely qualified.
But submitting ID was a no-go. He didn’t want any dealings with the military or government just yet.
Maybe I can steal an account?
This “Peerless Prodigy” seemed pretty knowledgeable—he probably had a login.
Should he pretend to be a cute girl, lure him into a meeting, and then drag him into a basement for questioning?
Just as Lu Yu was considering whether to go full-villain, Sun Jun, sitting in his South District apartment, suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
It was like something monstrous had just locked eyes on him.
“Damn it, why isn’t he replying? Hurry up and praise me already—don’t just leave this big boss hanging!”
Sun Jun shook off the creepy feeling and grumbled about Lu Yu’s slow replies.
Not seeing a reaction from the other side was making him impatient.
But after an excruciating minute of waiting—
Ding!
Lu Yu’s reply finally appeared.
